Research Fellowship

The Decatur House Museum, a National Trust Historic Site located in across
from the White House in Washington, D.C., is requesting applications for a
one year research fellowship. The 12 month fellowship is dedicated to
research into the 180 year history of Decatur House and its many prominent
occupants. Previous fellows have examined five different occupants during
the pre-Civil War period which have enriched our understanding of the house
and American social and cultural history. The fellow will have broad
latitude to develop their own research plan, including travel to
appropriate libraries and repositories. Requirements include locating,
copying or transcribing relevant primary source documents and interpreting
this material in a scholarly paper using appropriate secondary sources.
Applicants must have a BA in American History, American Studies or a
related field and display and interest in pursuing a career in the museum
field or pursuing graduate study. This position is compensated at an
hourly rate.
