Registrar/Collections Manager


POSITION DESCRIPTION:  The Center for the Study of
Political Graphics (CSPG) is searching for an
experienced, detail-oriented professional to oversee
the cataloguing, preservation, and management of its
unique domestic and international political poster
collection.  Main responsibilities include:
implementation and ongoing management of a
computerized collections database (MultiMIMSY),
accessions, deaccessions, cataloguing, loans, storage
maintenance, supervision of part-time staff and
volunteers, development of collections policies and
procedures, and answering or facilitating research
inquiries.

CSPG is an educational and research archive that
collects, preserves, documents and circulates domestic
and international political poster art.  CSPG
demonstrates the power and significance of artistic
expressions of movements for social change through
traveling exhibitions, lectures and workshops. Founded
in 1989, CSPG's growing collection contains more than
35,000 posters. In the last eleven years, CSPG
exhibitions have toured to more than 130 venues
regionally, nationally, and internationally.  It also
serves as a resource for artists, curators, activists,
scholars, students, filmmakers, and playwrights.

QUALIFICATIONS:  B.A./B.S. in museum studies, art
history, or related fields required.  Masters and
minimum of two years' professional experience
preferred.  Good computer skills and experience with
automated collection records essential.  Requires
careful, exceptionally organized individual, strong
written and oral communication, and self motivation.

SALARY: competitive, with benefits, depending upon
education and experience
