JOB DESCRIPTION 

DEPARTMENT:     Education
Job DESC. DATE: June 2000

TITLE:          Coordinator of Jewish School Programs   FLSA STATUS:    Non-Exempt

SUPERVISOR:     Manager of School Programs and Outreach SCHEDULE:               Full-time

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Facilitate programs for school groups to include museum tour with hands-on
studio component for children grades K – 12.
Facilitate school vacation week programs.
Participate in a team to create and implement new school programs related
to the Permanent and Changing exhibitions of the museum.
Participate in the creation of pre and post visit materials for new school
programs.
Develop and implement teacher workshops.
Create and maintain partnerships with Jewish Day and Supplementary schools.
Cultivate and maintain relationships with Jewish Day and Supplementary
Schools.
Create programs appropriate for Jewish School curricula.
Organize and oversee the Kekst Summer Institute for teachers.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Participate in all aspects of the Education Department activities.
Participate in Family Hanukkah benefit.
Assist in development of school brochures and other marketing initiatives.
Represent the museum at appropriate conferences such as CAJE.
Work closely with Scheduling Coordinator to coordinate school visits.
Manage program budget for areas specific to position.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS (including physical requirements):
MA in Museum Education, Jewish education or related field.
2 – 3 years related work experience.
Working knowledge of Hebrew, spoken and text.
Fundamental background in Jewish History.
Computer literate.
Comfort with teaching studio arts as related to educational programs.
Creative, enthusiastic, team player.
