In response to Margaret Tamulonis's message:

"Can anyone name museums or collections associated with the Roman Catholic
Church, specifically in the United States or Canada? I know of one in the
Bronx, but I haven't come across any others. Any ideas are
appreciated--thanks!

I suggest that you do a search in The Great Canadian Guide to museums and
galleries on the Web site of the Canadian Heritage Information Network (CHIN) at
http://www.chin.gc.ca. This comprehensive guide, a collaboration with the
Canadian Museums Association, contains information about the 2400+ museums in
Canada. I did a search using the "What" feature, entering the term religious as
a keyword and retrieved 211 museum names (please note that this list will
include more than Roman Catholic-related collections). The Guide also has links
with Artefacts Canada, the national inventory of Canadian museum collections,
allowing you to search for objects in the collections. Both the Guide and
Artefacts Canada are available without charge.

You might also be interested in the virtual exhibition, "Jesus Through the
Centuries," available on the CHIN Web site. And, finally, under "Research and
Reference" in the Reference Tools and Resources, you will find the Religious
Objects Collections, a small database of about 300 objects. Access is by
subscription, but CHIN does offer a 30-day free trial. Under credits, you will
find a list of the contributing institutions.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to phone at 1-800-520-2446
(Canada & USA).

Best wishes,
