Earlier this year I was asked to complete the anthropology museums entry for
the new International Encyclopedia of the Social and Behavioral Sciences.
While it doesn't provide examples of research (the journals already
recommended are much better for that) it does provide a thumbnail overview
of museum anthropology collections as a core social science database, as
well as some of the central problems and prospects of the discipline.
