Here is the information for the Indianapolis Art Center's tours:
1. What fees are charged for student tours?
$2.50/student (min 10) for a 45-min tour. Chaperones required, but are free
of charge.
2. Are there additional fees for hands on activities or guides/docents?
If a hands-on program is included the fee increases to $6.50/student. For a
studio demo plus tour, the fee is $2.50/student plus a flat $50 for the
demonstrator (about a 1/2 hr. demo).
3. Are there any instances where school groups would receive discounts or
free admission?
If underwriting has been received for tour programming related to a specific
exhibition, the tour would be free.
4. How many school tours (total student attendance)are done in a year?
Depends on the year: generally we get about 2/month unless we have
specially solicited tours for a given program or exhibition. Total student
attendance averages about 500 per year.
5. How many commercial tours (total attendance) are done in a year?
Not many--maybe 100 people or so.
6. How many guides/docents are available?
About 8-10 total, varies by day.
7. Who takes the calls for school tours (education department or
otherwise)?
Director of Exhibitions and Artist Services
8. What are this person's hours?
M-F 8:30-5:30
9. How do you label the phone tree/website so that school groups know whom
to speak with versus
commercial tours, etc.?
We are a very small organization: all tours that don't require rental of a
space get passed to the Director of Exhibitions and Artist Services. Tours
that require rental of a space go to the Special Events Manager.
10. Who is responsible for docent training/scheduling (education department
or otherwise)?
Exhibitions Department
Hope this helps!
