Are you in charge of exhibits for a small museum, nature center or zoo?
The New England Aquarium is looking for potential partners for two major
grants we are writing.
For both grants we are looking for smaller institutions, ones that have
not frequently (or ever) rented traveling exhibits. Institutions must
be non-profit, and ideally reach audiences not served by larger
institutions. Partner institutions will be involved in exhibit planning
and will receive traveling exhibits, with the costs largely underwritten
by the grants.
The first grant will produce a traveling exhibit about the Aquarius
Undersea Habitat an under water research station run by NOAA. The main
part of the exhibit would be a recreation of the habitat, built on a
flatbed trailer. Since it would be a mobile, self-contained, outdoor
exhibit, we hope to tour institutions that do not have space for large
indoor special exhibits.
The second grant would underwrite a series of small traveling exhibits
produced in collaboration with Gulf of Maine institutions interested in
aquatic ecological issues. Partner institutions would meet to decide
exhibit priorities and logistical issues. Exhibits would range from
table-top size up to about 200 square feet.
If you are interested, please get in touch with me at the e-mail address
below, and I will add you name to our mailing list to receive further
information.
Thank you,
Alexander Goldowsky
