ARTISTS RALLY TO SUPPORT THE MoMA STRIKERS
Wednesday, June 14, 6-9 pm
11 West 53rd Street (between 5th & 6th Avenues)
Employees of the Museum of Modern Art have been on strike since April
28--six weeks and counting. These professional and administrative workers
include curators, graphic artists, librarians, registrars, secretaries,
educators, salespersons, visitor assistants, and editors. The Museum has
refused to negotiate since early April, despite substantial compromises by
the union on April 27.
This Wednesday, June 14, the Museum is hosting a major
fundraiser--$1,000 a plate--at a time when its workers are on strike
over poverty-level wages and health care cuts. Party in the Garden
(universally referred to within the Museum as PIG) is attended primarily
by the Museum's Junior Associates. The guest of honor this year is
David Rockefeller.
The party is a perfect occasion to show support for our strike. Please
join us for our Party in the Street! Black tie optional.
