Installation Assistant

Working with the Museum's Chief of Design and Installation, the Installation
Assistant is responsible for many aspects of the planning, preparation, and
maintenance of the Museum's exhibitions.  The major responsibilities for
this full-time position include: assist in the preparation of the Museum's
exhibition spaces as a lead installation crew member;  handling, packing,
wrapping, and crating exhibition and Permanent Collection artwork;  aid in
the design, production, and installation of exhibition graphics, including
vinyl signage, exhibition text panels, and object identification labels;
coordinate the ordering, purchase, and/or renting of exhibition support
materials;  maintenance and upkeep of ongoing exhibitions;  assist the
Museum's Preparator in the production and fabrication of exhibition
furniture;  handle various tasks related to the Museum's art storage and
production facilities;  aid in the scheduling of installation crew members;
coordinate and schedule aspects of exhibition installation.  Additional
duties will be assigned as needed.  Bachelor of Arts in Fine Art, Art
History, or Museum Studies required, as well as a minimum of two years of
art installation or related experience.  Strong computer skills in both
Macintosh and PC-based applications, with a focus on graphics applications
(Quark, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Pagemaker, Flexi-Sign)
