First announcement

2001: A Pest Odyssey

A two-day conference organised jointly by English Heritage and the
Science Museum will be held in central London in October 2001 on the
subject of approaches to pest management and control methods for
collections and historic buildings. The key theme will concern insect
pests but papers concerning avian and rodent pests will also be
considered. The four main sessions of the conference will be:

Day 1
*       Integrated approaches to the management of risks from insect
pests
*       New developments in the control of insect pests
Day 2
*       Case studies in integrated pest management in collections and
historic houses
*       Case studies in control treatments

All those interested in presenting a paper at this meeting are invited
to submit an abstract of approximately 300 words (in English) together
with brief biographical and contact details of the authors. These should
be submitted no later than 30 June 2000 to:

Information may be submitted by mail or electronically (preferably in
Word).  The selection panel will make its decisions and notify
contributors by 31 August 2000.  Final texts together with all charts
and illustrations will be required by 31 December 2000.  The proceedings
will be published and made available at the conference.

Poster presentations will also be accepted. Please contact the organiser
for further information.


The language of the conference will be English. No simultaneous
translation facilities are planned.
