Sarah,
I saw The Dead Sea Scrolls Exhibit last week and it was one of the most
moving experiences I have ever encountered. It would definitely be worth the
trip, but you do need to get tickets.

There are fragments of varying sizes from 15 different scrolls, and there are
many other rare artifacts as well. There are translations of each fragment in
Hebrew, as well as an English translation of each fragment.

One of the most fascinating facets of the exhibition for me was watching a
skilled technician perform the incredible work of restoring fragments. When
I was there it was a woman from Israel, she worked inside of a glass booth,
seemingly oblivious to all of us watching intently her every precise move.

I had goosebumps from the moment I walked in, till long after I left. To me,
this was a once in a lifetime opportunity.

If you decide to go, I would call the Field Museum to find out about
purchasing advance tickets. Good luck, I hope you can make the trip!
Robin Frisch
