I don't think the responses to the original thread (M.A. vs PhD. programs)
were meant to imply that teaching at the University level is "easy".   (And
many apologies if that was the meaning taken).   The point was (I think)
that academic teaching and museum curation are two very different
professions, requiring different sets of training and experience.   While
someone trained in one area can certainly learn to do a job in the other, if
that is not their "real" interest, it turns out to be frustrating (to say
the least) for those who really want to be in that profession.

Just to put all this in perspective, a colleague who went from museum
registration to a curatorial position said that he didn't realize how
incrediably hard a registrar worked until he became a curator.
