Collections Manager

The Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of American History is recruiting for the position of Manager of its Offsite Storage program, which consists of three facilities in Maryland and Virginia.  The successful candidate will possess expert knowledge of the standards and practices of  physical care and legal documentation of museum collections and a demonstrated ability to manage a large, complex program.  Areas of responsibility include supervision of staff,  facilities and environmental control, collections maintenance, storage systems, object transport, automated and manual documentation systems, object tracking systems, and processing new acquisitions, outgoing loans, and loan returns specific to offsite storage. Salary $35,310-$45,900

The Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of American History is recruiting for a Museum Specialist to support its Offsite Storage program, which consists of three facilities in Maryland and Virginia.  The successful candidate will possess the ability to gather, record, reconcile, and update collections information in automated databases and manual systems, and oversee others in doing so; apply appropriate methods, materials, and equipment for storing collections; prepare and safely transport objects and monitor environmental and object condition.  The successful candidate will also possess a knowledge of facilities systems and safety requirements, including access requirements for collections in storage.
