Amy Hubbard you might want to contact the conservator, Susan Heald at the National Museum of the American Indian, Cultural Resource Center, Suitland Maryland,  she could give you some advise on textile care.  And another conservator/textile expert is Marion Roddee at the Maxwell Museum at the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque.  Good luck.
