Hello everyone -
As a part of our weekend programming here at the Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum,
we do short, 15-20 minute demonstrations as well as hands-on activity
stations that cover a broad range of scientific disciplines including
biology, ecology, chemistry, physics, engineering, mathematics, etc. In
observance of Earth Day, next month's demos and activities will explore
ecology and conservation. While I have plenty of ideas for hands-on
activities (including water filtration, a simulated oil spill clean-up, and
more), I'm having a lot of trouble coming up with quick and exciting
demonstration components that highlight our natural resources and advocate
the 3 R's (Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle). One colleague suggested doing
something with cornstarch vs. styrofoam packing peanuts...any other ideas?
