It got them into the exhibit didn't it?!

There doesn't need to be any logic.  They wanted to see the exhibit and
didn't get in, but were so close.  By getting a wheel chair, the guards let
them in to see the exhibit.  What coming from Africa has to do with needing
a wheel chair?  Nothing.  But no one picked up on that at the time
apparently and they got in to see the exhibit.
