Instead of nail polish, I've been using a commercially available solution
called Liquid Lable. It's an acetone solution, and tends to get gunky on
humid days, but from what I've read, it's pretty stable. I've been
purchasing the item through Light Impressions.
As for small objects, like coins, we either place them in either
Polyethylene
bags or encapsulate them in Mylar envelopes, and write the number in
permanent ink on the plastic itself.
