Subject: job announcement

The Mabee-Gerrer Museum of Art seeks an innovative, entrepreneurial,
creative, self-starter as Director and Chief Curator. MGMA, a superbly
designed building of 10,000 sq. ft., houses the oldest art collection in
Oklahoma. The salary range is $32-50,000 depending on qualifications. A
graduate degree is required, Ph.D. preferred. We do not discriminate based
on religion, ethnicity, or gender.

Interpersonal ability, organizational and administrative skills, budgeting,
leadership, community involvement, and teaching will be critical assets. Our
goals are to expand education, encourage academic study, reach a wider
audience, properly preserve and augment the collection, and creatively
display
permanent and temporary exhibits. We are committed to continuing our
progress toward AAM accreditation, developing a broader base of continuing
financial support, and expanding our $400,000 endowment.

The 3,500-piece collection was started by Fr. Gregory Gerrer, N.A. and has
approximately doubled since his death. The core is comprised of Ancient
Egyptian, Renaissance, Baroque, 19th-Century European and American, and
Native American paintings and objects. It also includes Pre-Columbian,
African, Babylonian, Greek, Roman, Japanese, and Chinese works.

MGMA is owned by St. Gregory's Abbey, a Benedictine Community, and is a
sister institution of St. Gregory's University, a small, vigorously growing
four-year institution with a 125-year tradition of excellence in the liberal
arts. Both have independent, community Boards of Trustees. SGU is one of
the
first fully lap-top computerized universities. MGMA has a staff of four, a
dynamic volunteer group, and an expanding educational program for schools,
community adults, and university students.

Shawnee, accredited as a Certified City by the US Chamber of Commerce, is
just east of Oklahoma City and has two small universities, 40,000
population, 150,000 trade area, diverse business and industry, a choice of
schools, a burgeoning new home market, one of the lowest housing costs in
the US, and a
landscape of low hills and trees.
