I don't know if this is the type of thing you are looking for but I recall
an essay by Ruth Phillips entitled "Why not Tourist Art? Significant
Silences in North American Museum Representations" in _After Colonialism:
Imperial Histories and Post-Colonial Displacements_. Princeton, 1994
