FULTON COUNTY ARTS COUNCIL DIRECTOR (Atlanta, GA)

JOB SUMMARY: Incumbent directs the Department of Arts and Culture including
responsibility for Arts and Culture program coordination, program management
and administration.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS: Arts and Culture, Department Director is a
stand alone classification with delegated authority to direct the Arts and
Culture department, services, events and operation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES: (This list is a representative sample: position assignments
may vary.)

Directs the department functions and operations including planning, budget,
staffing and accomplishment of department goals. Directs and oversees arts
and cultural programs, events and non-profits in all arts discipline
including visual arts, dance, film and media, literary, museums, music,
theater, multi-disciplinary projects. Works closely with various art and
cultural groups and citizens to develop arts and culture plans, programs and
events. Plans, evaluates and supervises subordinate personnel. Develops
policy recommendations for County commissioners regarding public funding for
the arts; implements board guidelines/policy. Provides technical and
management assistance to Arts Council and others; initiates ideas, ensures
budget compliance; assists in fund raising and board identification and
collaboration on selected projects. Responsible for directing fund raising
efforts for various arts initiatives by managing all fund raising activities.
Directs the Arts-in-Education program for Fulton County schools; ensures
program, target population and ensures goals are met. Directs arts and
cultural advocacy programs; works closely with local, state and national arts
groups including corporations and foundations; directs fund raising efforts.
Directs facility management including oversight and development of arts
facilities.

KNOWLEDGE: (position requirements at entry):
Budgeting; Fund raising; Supervision; Marketing; Accounting; Local and
national Arts and Culture trends; Planning; Strategic planning; Non-profit
management.

SKILLS: (position requirements at entry):
Supervision; Fund raising; Marketing; Effective presentations; Use of
computer and related software; Communication, interpersonal skills as applied
to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS: (Education & Experience):
Bachelor's degree in Arts, Public or Business Administration or related
field. Seven (7) years experience in Arts and Culture program management,
including three (3) years supervisory experience. (Master's degree preferred.)

Salary Range E81: $76,783 - $124,388
Class Code: 909779
