At this week's meeting of the Executive Council it was reported that
Sid-Ahmed Baghli and Nancy Hushion had each recently resigned from the
Executive Council of ICOM for personal reasons, and each was thanked for
their service to ICOM.

The Statutes of ICOM require the Executive Council to fill by co-option any
vacancy on the Executive that occurs more than 6 months before the next
triennial elections, and to have regard to the region of the resigning
member in making any such co-options.

The Executive Council announced that the President of ICOM Arab, Prof.
M.A. Nur Al Bin of Egypt, and the President of ICOM-LAC, Sra. Lorena San
Roman of Costa Rica, had accepted the Executive Council's invitation to
serve as Executive Council members for the remaining ten months of the
present term, i.e. up to the Melbourne Triennial General Assembly in
October 1998.
