R180,000 is less than US$40,000 Cheers, Glyn Hi Glyn, I have received an appeal from the Adler Museum of Medicine at the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) for letters of support for their continued existence. Please would you e-mail the appeal on the internet with the request that replies be submitted urgently. I will simply retype a pamphlet of appeal that is circulating at Wits to provide some background information for those who might care to respond. Thank you. Gillian "Adler Museum's Future in Jeopardy: Help Save Your Museum The Adler Museum of the History of Medicine needs your help. It has been in existence for 35 years and is one of the best museums of health sciences history in the World. Wits has to save money urgently. One of the proposals is to close the Adler Museum which would save approximately R180 000.00 a year. The Museum needs your help. The Museum's Board, staff and all stakeholders have been asked to present proposals to a Review Committee to persuade the University to continue funding the Museum or to make other suggestions to save the Museum. As a student or staff member of the University/teaching hospitals/clinics/SAIMR you are a stakeholder - please help us by: 1. Spreading the word. 2. Faxing (011 489 9001) or e-mailing ([log in to unmask]) a letter of support stating why the Adler Museum should continue to exist. 3. Donating money to establish a trust fund which will ensure that the Museum will have a permanent future - fax or e-mail your pledges. Adcock Ingram Ltd has already responded to our plight and has contributed R6000.00 to save the Museum.
