The database manager position is a full-time temporary position. One of the Agency goals is to put the museum collection records and photographs online via the Re:Discovery web portal, essentially providing access to the museum collections worldwide. In order to accomplish this goal, we need a person dedicated to verifying facts, ensuring accuracy, and standardizing the museum collection database to make it web ready. Duties and Tasks * Update database catalog records to make entries consistent and informative with digital color photographs. * Enter information from data sheets and condition reports. * Provide records and reference access to SHSND staff, visiting researchers, and museum professionals. * Work with collections staff to develop cataloguing format guidelines and a dictionary of standard terms. * Provide the web-ready collections for public viewing on the website. * Assist with the updating of the museum collection Collections Plan in order to reflect the collection's future needs, requiring research and a proactive collecting initiative. * Analyze existing collections and propose accessioning or disposition of Collection items * Assist with prepping PastPerfect data for transition to Re:Discovery.
