Hi Kathleen,
In addition to Dave’s excellent suggestion of the IMLS Inspire! Grants (https://www.neh.gov/grants/preservation/preservation-assistance-grants-smaller-institutions), NEH offers Preservation Assistance Grants for Smaller Institutions (https://www.neh.gov/grants/preservation/preservation-assistance-grants-smaller-institutions), which can be used for disaster plan development.
It’s great that you’re working toward an emergency plan!

Subject: Re: [MUSEUM-L] Funding for Emergency Manual for CollectionsI

Hi Kathleen,

The IMLS has a grant level for collections stewardship for getting core documents done, bringing in experts / consultants, staff training, or getting things like dataloggers or archival supplies for collections care. If the grant is budgeted under $25,000 there is no match requirement.

The IMLS staff is very helpful. Give them a call and they can advise you on the grant category and information on the process. They also make available model grants from previous grantees so you can see how successful grants were written.

Cheers!
Dave

I was wondering if anyone knew of any funding sources to help offset the costs of preparing an Emergency Manual for collections?
