We  aslo just started looking. for somethig open source and free... seen a few things but do not have the sleek front end....  any advice of options to examine  please...  the 5  big requirements 1 handles lots of pages!   2. are drag and drop construction 3 auto generation and addition of pages to navigational structure 4 auto adopts to formats of page  desk terminal...tablet... or cell phone. 5 handles  text, video, audio,......
We just used to use front page from Microsoft and was quick easy and worked..... after a FASHION

I'm glad to see that CollectiveAccess has been mentioned. You might also consider CollectionSpace / ArchivesSpace - integration between the two is mentioned on the ArchivesSpace website. I'm curious what the new version of Past Perfect will be like, but unless it's radically different, these products would probably allow for configurations that would accommodate richer and more precise cataloging in your specialty subject areas. What system have you been using so far?
