Greetings,

I am currently attempting to resolve the "unclassified object names" found
in PastPerfect before the annual updating of our online collections
database. Some of them were easy to resolve, but there are some
difficulties with Nomenclature 4.0 in that it does not seem to have
specific entries for archaeological and natural history items. However, I
need help with something specific. My museum's collection includes a
variety of cloth scraps and fragments, whose purpose is at present unknown
due to the unacceptable registration methods used by the directors back in
the 1960s and 1970s. What should I use from Nomenclature 4.0 to classify
it? They are currently in the catalog as "Cloth Fragment" and "Lace
Fragment". Category 10: Unclassifiable Objects does have "Fragment" and
"Sample, Material", but would those be appropriate for fabric specimens and
bolts of linen?

Thank you,

Michael R. <[log in to unmask]>
