The Chicago Academy of Sciences / Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum (CAS/PNNM)
is pleased to announce that it has received a grant from the Illinois State
Historical Records Advisory Board in support of a project with CAS/PNNM’s
audiovisual collection. The one-year grant will focus on digitally imaging
500 historic glass plate negatives illustrating the species and environment
in the Chicago region between 1898 and 1940.

CAS/PNNM’s natural history collections and archives date from the 1830s to
the present, providing baseline data for the Midwest / Western Great Lakes
region vital to biodiversity studies. Digital products from this grant
project will be made available online, including Chicago Collections
Consortium’s Explore portal and Internet Archive. To learn more about
