Course Description:

The course will teach participants the necessary skills and strategies to develop effective lesson plans that engage the students, provide standard based learning, and utilize the institutions resources to teach broader themes of history, society, and culture. Course Themes will include:

• Planning and Preparation
• Analyzing Instructional Outcomes
• Implementing the Backward Lesson Design
• Types of Learning Assessments
• Self-Assessment of Lesson Plans
• Strategies for connecting lesson to museum resources

Learning Objectives:

• Identify the necessary steps to developing effective lesson plans
• Create instructional outcomes for lesson plans that incorporate state standards
• Apply the backwards lesson method
• Differentiate learning assessments
• Evaluate existing lesson plans to identify areas of improvement
• Create new lesson plans that apply the strategies discussed in the course
• Develop strategies for connecting lesson plans to museum resources

Note: This course is designed for individual participation; each individual must register.

Course Fee: $175.00 USD

When does the course start and finish?
This course starts on October 22, 2018. It is an asynchronous online course designed to be completed in 4 weeks. Participants will spend approximately 2 hours each week on viewing lectures, answering quizzes and completing discussion, reading, and homework assignments. It is recommended that you complete each week's work within that week to stay in sync with other learners.
