STARTING ANNUAL SALARY: $ 32,400.00 DEADLINE FOR RECEIVING APPLICATIONS: September 14, 2018 Museum Program Assistant This position offers an opportunity to support the innovative museum education and exhibition programs within the new Museum of Mississippi History. The incumbent will serve on the MMH team, assisting with everyday operations and education and exhibit programs that inspire exploration and appreciation of Mississippi's history. This position is also responsible for leading on site tours and learning sessions for adult and student groups. The incumbent reports to the Director of MMH. Responsibilities Include: ● Leads on site tours and learning sessions for adult and student groups. ● Conducts research and/or develops education materials and exhibits as requested. ● Organizes group visit information. Primary contact for school tour coordination with Visitor Services Staff, arranges for additional volunteer or staff assistance as necessary. ● Assists with content development for the museum’s social media platforms and with MMH video content including visitor recordings and distance learning education resources. ● Implements regular research and evaluation projects ● Serves as office manager, maintaining orderly and useful filing system of record, organize meetings and prepare minutes, manages supplies, and serves as copy editor of all MMH materials. Qualifications: ● Candidates must possess an engaging and welcoming presence when working with museum visitors. ● General understanding and appreciation for Mississippi history. ● Passion for the MDAH and MMH mission. Works to exude excellence, integrity, passion and respect in their work. Enjoys working collaboratively in a team. ● Enjoys working collaboratively in a team with a cheerful and enthusiastic personality. ● Excellent writing and editing skills. ● Knowledge of Word, Excel, and Power point Requirements: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in American or Southern Studies, Communications or Public Relations, English, History, Museum Studies, or Public History.
