ICOM's International Committee for the Training of Personnel (ICTOP) was formally established in 1968. ICTOP's primary aim is to promote training and professional development and to establish standards/guidelines for museum personnel throughout their careers. The Committee studies and provides information on museum professional education offerings, organises an annual meetings and acts as an advisor for the establishment of syllabi and curriculum for museums studies/museology and personnel trainings and works closely with other ICOM Committees to achieve its goals.
