Dear Colleagues,

I find it necessary to make a comment on the departure of Valerie Jullien. It is most sad that she has to leave the organization, even as she may be leaving for better challenges, and even as she promises to stay in touch and continue making contributions to the heritage world.

Vallery has been in ICOM for twelve years, and for some of us, that is as long as we have been in the Museum world and in ICOM. We have therefore grown up with Valerie always in our world. Many articles, letters and other correspondenses have had her name on them; so much so that she has actually become a real sister to many of us. Even as some have not seen her physically, we have already made a mental impression of her based on her writing, her efficiency and her friendlyness-we have come to know her and love her so much.

While I wish her an even better future with more interesting professional challenges, I must say that we shall miss her greatly, and I am sure with her experience, it is going to prove very difficult to get a replacement that will perform with equal competence.

We all wish you a happy future outside ICOM.

Peter Denis Okwaro,
Chairman,
ICOM-Kenya Chapter.

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

On the 1st of September I will not work anymore at the ICOM Secretariat.

Working for ICOM and museums has been a wonderful professional and human
adventure. From intern to Head of communication unit, my tasks and
responsibilities within the ICOM Secretariat have always progressed and
have allowed me to experience a wide variety of activities and act within a
multicultural network.

Working for ICOM has also given me a lot of personal enrichment, and I feel
grateful for the opportunity to have been able to commit myself to the
protection of the heritage and more especially to the fight against illicit
traffic.

But today, after 12 years, I really need to look for new professional
challenges, I want to continue to be active in the heritage field to which
I am dedicated and in which I am experienced. But I would like to do that
differently, even if it is on a project basis, and in a different
environment, even if it is far from Paris.

It was a pleasure to be part of the ICOM Secretariat team, and to work with
its members.

With my best regards,

Valérie Jullien
Communications Officer
ICOM secretariat
