Invitation to the annual meeting of the ICOM-MPR Committee 
August 28–September 1, 2005
in Tampere, Finland
The theme will be Market Communications
for the Benefi t of the Museum. The main
idea is to find ways and exchange ideas how to raise
the museum´s recognition by expanding its marketing
capacity.

Museum Centre Vapriikki and the Central Museum
of Labour in Finland as well as in the fa
Early bird fee (until17 June 2005) for delegates EUR 290
One-day participation fee EUR 150
Late fees (after17 June 2005) EUR 370
The conference fee for delegates covers
participation in sessions, printed conference materials,
refreshments during the breaks, lunches, the get-together-
party, the City’s reception, the dinner, the excursion,
and the study visits.

SEEKING SPEAKERS FOR ICOM-MPR 2005

Tampere, Finland 28 August – 1 September 2005
In preparation of the ICOM-MPR Annual Conference 2005 in Tampere, Finland,
The International Committee for marketing and Public Relations (ICOM-MPR)
is seeking expressions of interest from potential speakers who have
expertise in the area of market communications.The theme for the
conference will be Market Communications for the Benefit of the Museum.
The main idea is to find ways and change ideas how to raise museum´s
recognition by expanding its marketing capacity. The main theme is divided
into the following three subtopics:
- Communicating the Museums and the Role of Public Relations
- Marketing the Museums – Museums and Visitors
- How to Improve Communication Strategies

If you are interested in making a presentation at the conference, focusing
on one of the three subtopics, we would be pleased to hear from you by
e-mail at your earliest convenience. You are kindly invited to submit a
written Abstract (see below) for proposed oral presentations (of not more
than 20 minutes) for assessment by the ICOM-MPR Board.

All Abstracts of contributions offered must be sent no later than 30 April
2005 to:

The receipt of Abstracts will be confirmed, and a decision on offers will
be made shortly after all abstracts are received. Successful speakers will
be notified in May 2005. 

NB: As a not-for-profit entity with extremely limited resources, it is not
possible for ICOM-MPR to pay for the travel or accommodation expenses of
its speakers. Please also note that accepted papers are not exempt from
payment of the registration fee. 

Instructions for writing abstracts: 
-	electronic transmission in Word (.doc) or Rich Text Format (.rtf) is
preferred and requested. If electronic transmission is impossible please
send the Abstract on a Windows format diskette.
-	abstracts must be written in English (working language of the Conference)
-	title with capitalised first letter only
-	initials and name of the author 
-	institution of the author 
-	text of the abstract, containing 250 words maximum, structured with
subheadings: introduction, aims and conclusion
-	name, surname, address and e-mail address of the presenting author, to
whom the confirmation and further correspondence will be sent
