CALL FOR PAPERS


International conference „Museums of the XXI c. – Changes and Challenges“ will take place 21st  September 2012 in Vilnius.

AIM OF THE CONFERENCE - to bring together Lithuanian and European professionals working in museums and for museums to share their experience, insights and examples of good practice in engaging museum audience and to discuss urgent challenges for the museums in strengthening their role and impact on the social, cultural and economical development of local communities.


OBJECTIVES OF THE CONFERENCE
-       To encourage the cooperation among museum professionals;
-       To share the experiences and ideas about creating informative, attractive and socially inclusive museum in the XXI c.
-       To discuss urgent problems, main challenges and necessary changes allowing to fulfill museums’ missions;
-       To discover new forms and ways of meeting new audience demands and making museums socially important;

The international conference „Museums in the XXI c. – Changes and Challenges“ covers, but is not limited to the following areas:

- Museums in the global world
- changing role of museum in the society;
- participatory museum;
- research of museum audience (new insights and future tendencies);
- pulling in target audiences (new ways and forms);
- museums as the storages of culture values;

- Museums and Network
        - social media – global uproar and museums;
        - museum networks;
        - formal and informal museum organizations;

Submissions are invited until the 10th July, 2012.

Instruction for submission of papers:
-       Abstracts of maximum 2000 characters for individual papers should be sent by email to Mrs. Vaiva Lankeliene ([log in to unmask]) untill 10th July, 2012.
-       Abstracts should include the following information:
o       Title of the paper;
o       Author’s name(s);
o       Affiliation or position;
o       Contact details;
o       Abstract;
o       Keywords (maximum 5);
-       Authors will be notified of the acceptance of their proposals in July. Accepted speakers will be required to submit 2000 -5000 word full papers in advance of the conference (to Mrs. Vaiva Lankeliene by the 1st September, 2012). They will be included in the conference participants’ folders and published in conference proceedings.
-       Presentations during the conference will be limited to 30 minutes.
There is no registration fee for the conference.
