CRITERIA FOR AWARDING TRAVEL GRANTS
FOR THE 19th GENERAL CONFERENCE OF ICOM
Barcelona, Spain, 1 - 08 July 2001
During its 95th session held on December 1999, the Executive Council of ICOM
defined the following criteria for awarding travel grants for the 19th
General Conference of ICOM which will be held in Barcelona in 2001.
1. Only candidates having paid their dues for 1998, 1999 and 2000
will be allowed to apply.
2. Travel grants shall be reserved for applicants from developing
countries and from countries with non-convertible currency.
3. For an equitable distribution of resources, travel grants
awarded for the General Conferences of 1995 and 1998 will be
taken into consideration, and applicants having received grants
for both the Conferences of 1995 and 1998 will not be awarded a
grant for the 2001 Conference.
Only those applications, completed by a statement of the
applicant's motivation for attending the Conference and the
benefits which he/she expects to derive from it, a curriculum
vitae, the amount of the grant requested, and a letter of
recommendation from the Chairperson (the Chairperson of the
Regional Organization or any relevant person if there is no
National Committee in her/his country) of the National Committee
or International Committee.
In the event that the President of a National Committee wishes to
apply in his/her own name, a recommendation from his/her National
Committee must be included with the application. In addition, a
letter of recommendation from an International Committee or a
Regional Organization may be included with the application. All
applications must reach the ICOM Secretariat by September 1st
2000.
5. For the awarding of grants priority will be given in
accordance with:
a. The applicant's understanding of the benefits to be received
from attending the Conference, as outlined in his/her submission.
b. Ensuring representation from as many countries and types of
museums as possible.
c. Other sources of funding available which would facilitate
his/her attendance at the Conference.
6. Each grantee is require to submit a report to the ICOM
Secretariat one month at the latest after the General Conference.

OCTROI DES BOURSES POUR LA
19e CONFERENCE GENERALE DE L'ICOM

Le Conseil Exécutif de l'ICOM, réuni lors de sa 95e session de décembre
1999, a défini les critères suivants pour l'octroi des bourses pour la 19e
Conférence Générale de l'ICOM qui se tiendra à Barcelone en 2001.
1. Seuls les candidats ayant payé leur cotisation en 1998, 1999
et 2000 pourront faire une demande de bourse.
2. Les bourses seront réservées aux candidats des pays en voie de
développement et des pays à monnaie non-convertible.
3. Il sera tenu compte des bourses déjà octroyées aux candidats
pour les Conférences Générales de 1995 et 1998, afin de respecter
une juste répartition des ressources. Il ne sera en conséquence
pas octroyé de bourses, en 2001, aux candidats ayant déjà obtenu
une bourse pour chacune des deux conférences en 1995 et 1998.
4. Les candidats doivent avoir fourni un dossier complet,
comprenant un exposé des motifs pour lesquels le candidat désire
assister à la Conférence et les avantages qu'il compte en
retirer, un curriculum vitae, le montant de la bourse souhaité
ainsi qu'une lettre de recommandation d'un Président de Comité
national ou de Comité international (le Président de
l'Organisation ou l'autorité compétente s'il n'existe pas de
Comité national dans le pays).
Au cas où un Président de Comité national souhaiterait faire acte
de candidature pour lui-même, un lettre de soutien du bureau du
Comité national devra être jointe au dossier. Par ailleurs une
lettre de parrainage d'un Comité international ou d'une
Organisation régionale pourra être jointe à la demande. Ce
dossier doit parvenir au Secrétariat de l'ICOM avant le 1er
septembre 2000.
5. Priorité sera donnée dans l'attribution des bourses en
fonction de :
a. la compréhension par le candidat des avantages qu'il peut
retirer de sa participation à la conférence, telle qu'elle
apparaît dans sa demande,
b. la représentation à la Conférence du plus grand nombre
possible de pays et de types de musée,
c. les autres sources de financement possibles qui lui
permettraient d'assister à la Conférence.
6. Il sera demandé à chaque boursier de faire un rapport au
Secrétariat au plus tard un mois après la tenue de la Conférence
Générale.
