Objet : ICOM MPR annual conference, Brno, Czech Republic, September 17th to 20th, 2011

As governments struggle with the impacts of the global financial
crisis on public spending, museums find that they are not immune
from funding cuts.

Continuing to convince both governments and the public of the
value of museums is essential in these changing times.

Having the tools to build effective, long-term relationships with
both governments and the public is crucial to our survival as a
sector.

How can we convince governments of the important role that
museums play in building public value? How can we plan with the
needs and interests of the public in mind? How do we capture
evidence to prove that museums continue to be a valued part of
our societies?

If these questions interest you, then the forthcoming MPR
conference in Brno, Czech Republic from 17th- 20th September 2011
is an important event in your professional calendar.

Measuring (and Promoting) Museum Success is the title of the
conference.

Featured keynote speakers include Dr. David O'Brien (UK) on how
governments measure the success of museums and how we can use
this knowledge to the advantage of the sector; Dr. Lynn Dierking
(USA) will speak about how museums can plan with audiences to
build a common future, and; Dr. Carol Scott (UK) will explore the
tools at our disposal to capture the evidence that we need to
prove the value of museums.

Registration is open now. Please contact Simona Jurackova
