Dear Colleagues

My concern with the General Assembly in June is the lack of leadership and clarity about the agenda, as published in the web site the agenda will be

Adoption of the Draft Agenda
2. Adoption of the Minutes of the previous session
3. ICOM Operational Policies
4. Presentation and approval of the audited financial documents:
- Income/expenditure statement as at 31.12.07
- 2007 Balance sheet as at 31.12.2007
5. Other matter
6. Date and time of the next General Assembly: Proposed date: June 2009 (the exact place is still to
be confirmed)

Honestly I see no topic that will advance the organization with key decisions. If we can handle to be present we will come with 5 proxies and cast the 5 votes, but if I am bringing 5 votes from my country I would like to be able to discuss with my National colleagues the topics that we will be voting about. We as presidents are representatives of our countries and committees, so it is essential to be prepared and be able to REALLY ADVANCE THE ORGANIZATION.

I am sorry but I see no intervention of our Chairman of the Advisory in preparing this and other issues with us.

Dear Roger,

Re yours (below):

It's far from an "obscure French law": and can you name ANY country in the
world that DOESN'T demand yearly approval by the ultimate governing
authority of a charitable or similar body - in our case the General
Assembly - of the audited accounts and annual report of the Executive and
Secretariat?

No special meeting or costs are involved: all that is to happen (and
should in fact always have happened) is that in years when there is no
General Conference the annual meeting of the Advisory Committee sits as a
short General Assembly (with proxies avaiable for those bot ttending in
person).
