ICOM-SA supports, with so many national committees and other stakeholders of ICOM, our Executive Council's decision to appoint Robert as Interim Director to manage our organisation's operations. We thank him for his willingness to serve ICOM in its broader operational context. All indications are that the experience he is bringing to the Secretariat will benefit us all in ICOM.
And in the same breath we thank Piet Pouw for a job well done. The motion suggested ICOM-SA fully support in the knowledge of his immense contribution to Museum training and practice in The Netherlands and beyond, particularly in recent years.

Robert Spickler: Interim Director of ICOM
The Executive Council will announce shortly the appointment of its new Director General who will take up his position in fall of 2008. Piet J.M.
Pouw who has assisted ICOM so ably as Interim Secretary General for the last year will be leaving at the end of July.
As the Council wishes to ensure the on-going administration of ICOM without interruption, it gives me great pleasure to inform you that Robert Spickler will manage ICOM operations for a period of 3 months beginning August 1st., 2008.
Mr Spickler is the Chair of ICOM's Standing Committee on Finance and Resources. He has longstanding experience in the management of cultural institutions, most recently twelve years as Executive Vice-President of the Canadian Centre for Architecture, a museum and a research centre dedicated to the art of architecture in Montreal.
During his three month term, Mr Spickler will manage ICOM's ongoing operations as well as human, material and financial resources of the Secretariat, all within the context of ICOM's Strategic Plan as approved by the General Assembly.

Le Conseil exécutif annoncera sous peu la nomination du nouveau Directeur général de l'ICOM qui prendra ses fonctions au cours de l'automne 2008.
Dans le but d'assurer le bon fonctionnement de l'ICOM et en raison du départ fin juillet de Monsieur Piet J.M. Pouw qui occupait le poste de secrétaire général par intérim depuis un an, j'ai le plaisir d'annoncer que Monsieur Robert Spickler dirigera le Secrétariat général de l'ICOM pour une période de trois mois à compter du 1er août 2008.
Monsieur Spickler est le président du Comité permanent pour les Finances et les Ressources de l'ICOM. Il possède une longue expérience dans l'administration d'organismes culturels dont douze années comme vice-président exécutif du Centre canadien d'architecture (CCA), un musée et un centre de recherche sur l'art de l'architecture situé à Montréal.
Durant son mandat, Monsieur Spickler dirigera les opérations courantes du Secrétariat et assurera la gestion des ressources humaines, matérielles et financières de l'ICOM dans le respect du plan stratégique approuvé par l'Assemblée générale de l'ICOM.

Robert Spickler nombrado Director interino del ICOM
El Consejo Ejecutivo anunciará en breve el nombramiento del nuevo Director General del ICOM, que tomará posesión de su cargo en el otoño de 2008. Por su parte, el Sr. Piet J.M. Pouw, que ha desempeñado competentemente este cargo con carácter interino desde hace un año, cesará en sus funciones a finales del mes de julio.
Con vistas a garantizar el funcionamiento ininterrumpido del ICOM, en cumplimiento de los deseos expresados en este sentido por el Consejo Ejecutivo, me complace anunciarles que el Sr. Robert Spickler dirigirá la administración de la Organización por un periodo de tres meses, que dará comienzo el 1º de agosto de 2008.
El Sr. Spickler, que es Presidente del Comité Permanente de Financiación y Recursos del ICOM, cuenta con una larga experiencia en la administración de instituciones culturales. Hasta una fecha reciente desempeñó el cargo de Vicepresidente Ejecutivo del Centro Canadiense de Arquitectura ubicado en Montreal, que alberga un museo y un centro de investigaciones.
Durante su mandato de tres meses, el Sr Spickler se encargará de la dirección de los asuntos en curso de la Secretaría, así como de sus recursos humanos, materiales y financieros, ajustándose al Plan Estratégico del ICOM aprobado por la Asamblea General.
