"HOW MUCH LEADERSHIP DO MUSEUMS NEED?" /
"WIEVIEL LEADERSHIP BRAUCHT EIN MUSEUM?"

6 - 7 April 2006

Landesmuseum Kärnten, Klagenfurt, Austria

The aim of this seminar is to highlight leadership in museums in the context of the particular challenges of the 21st century. Lack of cultural-political understanding, public service accounting, a deficit of sponsoring opportunities and insufficient visitor focus, as well as deficiencies in professionalism in museums management, all prevent museums developing to meet the community's needs and economic requirements. Not only are innovative strategies lacking, but often also specific know-how. To sustain the existence of museums and to strengthen their role in society, powerful strategies and visionary leaders are necessary. In this seminar, both the practice and theory of successful museum's leadership will be covered, together with the available training
opportunities.
