Dear colleagues,

Thanks to a generous grant from The Getty Foundation, the International Council of Museums (ICOM) is able to offer a limited number of bursaries to museum professionals from low GDP countries in Africa, Asia and the Pacific, Latin America and Central and Eastern Europe to attend the annual conference of ICOM's International Committee for Management INTERCOM from 25-28 November 2012 in Sydney, Australia.

This year's conference theme is #museumchallenges.

Museums have always operated in times of change, yet the challenges and pace of change over the last five years has been unprecedented. Globalisation, environmental issues and climate change, relationships with Indigenous and creator communities, diversity of audiences, different employee mindsets, new skill sets, new media and technologies and the global financial crisis, have placed increasing pressure on the ways museums are managed and led.

The conference will address these issues using a mix of conference/meeting formats designed to encourage conversation, learning, intellectual stimulation and exchange of ideas.

For full conference details and call for papers please visit www.intercom.museum

Bursary Criteria:

* Applicants must be individual members of ICOM or work for an institution that is an institutional member of ICOM.
* Applicants must be qualified museum professionals and must be currently employed in a museum or related institution.
* Applicants are invited to submit a proposal for a paper or workshop session under one of the themes of the conference. Details on conference themes and proposals can be found at www.intercom.museum and at the back of this application form.

If you wish to apply, please go to www.intercom.museum to download the application or email Françoise McClafferty, INTERCOM Secretary at [log in to unmask]

All documents should be sent in an electronic format if possible. If you are unable to send an electronic copy, please see postal address at the end of the application form.

The deadline for applying is 15 June 2012. Submissions received after this date may not be considered.

We look forward to hearing from you.
