                VICTORIA (CANADA) REVIVE THE DUBROVNIK
                INTER-UNIVERSITY CENTRE INTERNATIONAL
                        MUSEOLOGY COURSE

                "TOWARD A MUSEOLOGY OF RECONCILIATION"
        May 11-16, 1998, at the Inter-University Centre, Dubrovnik, Croatia

Professors Ivo Maroevic and Martin Segger jointly announced today the
reconstitution of the Dubrovnic museology course which ran for five years
previous to interruption by the war.

The Dubrovnik course combines the presentation techniques of symposium,
seminar and fieldschool.  Students wishing to attend for credit can do so
through either the University of Victoria, the University of Zagreb, or
other accrediting institutions of higher learning.

Proposals for papers are now invited from museologists and scholars
interested in discussing the function and role of museums before, during
and after times of armed conflict;  collecting, preserving and interpreting
museum collections with the aim of developing a new consciousness for peace
and security; the use of cultural heritage to reconcile communities in
conflict.
