Professional education for the museum and heritage sector has developed dramatically in recent decades, at least in some regions of the world. What changes are now being demanded of our museology pedagogies? In a time of economic turmoil how do we approach the resource of human capital in our sector?

In surveying the past and present of museum professional education, this conference will identify current communities of practice and promising ideas for the future development of the museum and heritage professions and the building of an international learning community through the auspices of organizations such as ICTOP-ICOM.

 Keynotes:
* Lynda Kelly, Australian Museum, Social Media and Museums as well as Visitor Research specialist
* Viv Golding, Museum Studies, Leicester University- Professor and author
* Collette Dufresne Tasse, University of Montreal- Professor

We have a strong program of submitted papers on our topic that will provide a compelling discussion for all devoted to questions of professional development.
