ICR Annual Conference 2000: Museum Quality and Standards

The Annual Conference of the International Committee for Regional
Museums will take place from October 29th till November 5th, 2000 in
Nairobi, Kenya. It will again be focused on the theme Museum Quality and
Standards, crucial questions of today.

During the last Annual Conference of ICR we stressed especially the
theme Museum Accreditation. Keynote speeches gave an overview and
introduced into the subject. Reports described the experiences with
museum quality work from more then 10 countries. As an introduction and
"course literature" for our meeting in Kenya this year, all papers will
be printed now.

The meeting itself will be organized as a workshop this year. This will
give opportunity to the participants to more closely discussions with
collegues from other parts of the world what museum quality is all about
and how it could be improved in reality.

Four sections are foreseen:

Section 1: Visitor service
Section 2: Education/Communication
Section 3: Collections
Section 4: Management

Conference fees

The registration fees include morning and afternoon tea/coffee,
registration materials, opening reception and farewell dinner. They are:

150 US$/155 Euro for payments made before 31.08.2000
180 US$/187 Euro for payments made between 01.09.2000 and 30.09.2000
200 US$/210 Euro for payments made after 30.09.2000


Hotel reservation

All bookings are subject to availability. Reservation requires a deposit
of 50 US$/50 Euro; the balance is payable on check-out.
The following hotels are prebooked:
Hotel Boulevard: single room/double room from 30 to 51 US$
Hotel Sirona, VIP-room: single room/double room from 16 to 23 US$
Hotel Sirona, Standard room: single room/double room from 10 to 13 US$
