Dear Alissandra,

We have had direct reports of the museum situation in Georgia. The ICOM
UK National Committee is concerned that the present situation in Georgia
is likely to have an affect on cultural heritage.

We would like to show our support for our museum colleagues affected by
this terrible situation. Please would you include our thoughts with
those of our colleagues in responding to this? Do let us know if there
is any coordinated action we can contribute to.

It is times like these that we must all be aware of the importance of
Blue Shield, the ICOM Code of Ethics and support those museum
professionals who as ICOM members adhere to the Hague Convention. ICOM
UK is sending out a communication to our national membership asking for
support and alerting them to the actions of the Blue Shield and the
Disaster Relief Task Force in the area.

Regards,

Jack Lohman

Chairman
