Can anyone point me to some good guidelines about digitally touching up historic photos for exhibit use? Can stains, tears, etc. be repaired? Our exhibit designer wants to bring some of the historic photos that will be reproduced in an upcoming exhibit back to what the original image looked like when new. I don’t think this is necessary, that it is okay if images show some age, and think touch up should be kept to a bare minimum. I would love to see some guidelines about this and get the opinion of other museum staffers out there. Thanks.
