Deadwood History, Inc. (DHI) is currently seeking a Public Programs Manager.  DHI is the nonprofit organization that oversees the operations of the Adams Museum, the Days of ’76 Museum, the Historic Adams House, the Homestake Adams Research and Cultural Center, and The Brothel Deadwood. JOB TITLE:  Public Programs Manager

REPORTS TO:  Executive Director

OBJECTIVE:  The Public Programs Manager works collaboratively with other DHI departments and staff to research, develop, plan, deliver, and evaluate youth and adult public programs.  Through strategic planning and exceptional management these public programs will connect audiences to DHI and one another in meaningful ways that contribute to increased attendance, sustained engagement, and enhanced public value.  

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 
•	Lead and manage all aspects of youth and adult public programs.
•	Work with other DHI staff to envision, create, and implement innovative and educational learning experiences at all five DHI properties and offsite locations.    
•	Develop content and lead K-12 grade students in onsite and offsite learning experiences.      
•	Perform regular evaluations and surveys of programs to continually improve the visitor’s experience.  
•	Work with the Communications Department to produce promotional materials used to describe programs and promote community engagement.    
•	Assume all responsibilities for facility rental opportunities.   
•	Develop department’s annual budget and review as needed.  
•	Inventory and order necessary programming and event supplies.  
•	Develop, coordinate, and support outreach opportunities.  Serve as a liaison with local schools, school districts, universities, families, and children. 
•	Maintain the public programs calendar.  
•	Supervise interns and volunteers.  
•	Remain abreast of trends and best practices in the fields of education and museums.

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
•	Assist with special events and activities.
•	Other duties as assigned.  

REQUIREMENTS:  
•	Advanced degree in education, history, museum studies, or related field.
•	Prior experience working with children and adults in educational settings.  
•	Proficient in a variety of computer technology and social media outlets.
•	Knowledge of K-12 learning and teaching strategies, curriculum, and standards.
•	The duties of this position include the ability to stand for long periods of time, sitting, bending, kneeling, and lifting or moving objects up to 30 pounds; climbing stairs and walking over varied terrain.  Exposure to outdoor elements is necessary, at times.  
•	Must be able to see, speak, and hear effectively. 
•	Some weekend and evening work required.
