Job Summary:
This position is located at the Greeley History Museum within the Culture, Parks and Recreation Department of the City of Greeley and is under the direct supervision of the Curator of Collections.  The Archives Specialist provides access for the public, museum staff, and City of Greeley departments to the City of Greeley Museum's vast archival collections.  Assists the Collections Team in preservation and cataloging of collections.

Schedule is: Wednesday-Saturday, ~20 hours per week

Experience, Knowledge, Skills:
General working knowledge of archival and museum best practices.
Familiarity with and ability to use technical equipment such as computers, scanners, DVD player, and Betamax/VHS players required.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office required; preference will be given to those with knowledge of Past Perfect Museum Software.
Knowledge of Audacity and Adobe Photoshop preferred.

Essential Functions:
-Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Hazel E. Johnson Research Center by providing access to historical research materials to public patrons, museum staff, and city departments. Take, process, and fill media reproduction orders using point of sale software program.  Field research queries via e-mail, telephone and fax. Track revenues and visitation statistics for the Center.
-Work in tandem with the Curator of Collections and Assistant Curator of Collections to process incoming acquisitions, especially archivally-based collections.  Catalog, write condition reports, digitize and store new acquisitions according to best museum practices and City of Greeley Museum policy.
-Improve access to the museum collections by creating finding aids, evaluating current methods of access and improving them, and working with the Collections Team to organize the museum collections in an efficient manner.
-Supervise multiple volunteers, and assist in guiding interns and work study students.

Work Environment:
-The work environment for this position is primarily of a sedentary office nature, with field inspection of collection storage areas.
-May have some exposure to chemicals, electrical and plumbing materials.

Physical Requirements:
-Occasionally may be required to work outdoors for events and to check on facilities.
-Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. unassisted.
