The Smoke-Free Illinois Act requires that public places and places of employment must be completely smoke-free inside and within 15 feet from entrances, exits, windows that open and ventilation intakes. If any adult use cannabis law is passed I would imagine that it would at least be similar to California's law which makes it illegal to consume, smoke, eat or vape cannabis in public. Additionally, it is illegal to open a package containing cannabis or any cannabis products in public. I would not get overly worried about it, there are far more immediate and pragmatic concerns many museums need to deal with.
