Dear ICMS/ICOM Members,
Don´t be late for signing up for this years ICMS' 40Th anniversary, held in September 2014 in Copenhagen, Denmark.
The main theme of the meeting is:

The main sponsor of ICMS 2014, Fire Eater, will at the conference present the latest developments within the use of the fire extinguishing gas INERGEN: Heritage buildings and very large volumes. To achieve early and precise fire detection Fire Eater has started the "Smoke-sense project". The ICMS conference will be the first event ever where this new technology is presented as a prototype. Be the first to experience a detector, that is not only highly sensitive, but can also identify the smell, and only responds to real signs of fire.
We are going to visit is Louisiana Museum new storage facilities for artwork 3,6 km from the museum. The special about this facilities are that the use of energy is very low (appx. 10% of a normal storage facilities) and the security is high. It is use for all kind of artwork. There are no windows or fire extraction. It is an no crew facility and is fully control by the security center at the museum. So more security for less money. At the meeting Louisiana will tell about the facilities and we will visit it as well

Design Museum Denmark
Design museum Denmark (earlier named The Danish Museum of Art & Design) is Denmark's largest museum for Danish and international design and a central exhibition forum for industrial design and applied arts in Scandinavia. The museum's collections, library and archives constitute a central resource center for the study of design and its history in Denmark. The museum brings together and documents the contemporary developments within industrial design, decorative and applied arts. We must add to this the collection of exemplary works from older "areas" and periods, which are closely related to contemporary oeuvres. Design museum Denmark undertakes research into the history of art and design, taking as its point of departure the museum's own collections, and presents the results in exhibitions, publications and educational material etc.
Since 1926, Designmuseum Danmark has been housed in one of Copenhagen's finest rococo buildings, the former King Frederik's Hospital. This edifice was built during the reign of King Frederik V in the years 1752-57 to designs by the architects Nicolai Eigtved and Lauritz de Thurah. In the early 1920s the building was renovated and refurbished to suit museum purposes by the architects Ivar Bentsen and Kaare Klint. http://designmuseum.dk
The David Collection
The museum comprises three permanent collections whose nucleus dates back to the days of its founder, C. L. David: the Collection of Islamic Art, the Collection of European 18th-Century Art, and the Collection of Danish Early Modern Art.The Collection of Islamic Art - internationally, the museum's most important one - today encompasses so many and such important works that it enables the visitor to form a fairly comprehensive impression of art from this cultural sphere. The Collection of European 18th-Century Art is displayed in period interiors in the original rooms from the 19th century. The Collection of Danish Early Modern Art is on permanent exhibit once again, for the first time since C. L. David's day. http://www.davidmus.dk
