DEMHIST CONFERENCE CALENDAR 2003-2005
Here is the 2003-2005 conference schedule to-date of DEMHIST, ICOM's
International Committee for Historic House Museums:
2003, 10-12 October, Lenzburg (near Zurich), Switzerland, theme: "Facing and
Solving Challenges of Historic House Museums: Examples and Models," Fourth
Annual Conference
2004, Autumn, Berlin/Potsdam, Germany, probable themes: "Marketing: Benefits
and Dangers" and "What to do with Empty Houses?," Fifth Annual Conference
2005, London, England, theme: "The Future of Historic House Museums in the
21st Century: Survival and Sustainability," Sixth Annual Conference
Voting members of DEMHIST are eligible to speak at DEMHIST conferences, but
all professionals are eligible to attend. The Acts of the First and Second
conferences are available through DEMHIST; the Acts of the Third conference
are forthcoming.
DEMHIST is an international forum dedicated to discussing problems and
finding solutions particular to historic house museums, such as improving
"mission statements" and community relations; clarifying goals and
conservation and restoration strategies; improving the visibility of
historic house museums in order to attract more visitors and communicating
clearly, engagingly and transparently with them.
